Modeling Head Related Transfer Functions

چکیده

Head Related Transfer Functions (HRTF’s) characterize the transformation of a sound source to the sounds reaching the eardrums, and are central to binaural hearing. Because they are the result of wave propagation and difiraction, they can only be approzimated by finitely parameterized filters. The functional dependence of the HRTF on azimuth und elevation is described, the requirements for a model are discussed, and e&sting models are reviewed.

Modeling of non-individualized head-related transfer functions for nearby sources

The minimum realization method was used to model the non-individualized head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) of B&K HATS (Head And Torso Simulator) type 4128C measured with a special acoustic point-source positioned at various distances within 1 m from the head center for 3D sound implementation in hand-held devices such as MP3 players and cellular phones. The interaural time delays (ITDs) a...

A resolution comparison of horizontal and vertical magnetic transfer functions

The main goal of the present study is to identify characteristics of the inter-station horizontal magnetic responses and the vertical magnetic data, as two types of magnetotelluric transfer functions, in the modeling procedure. Through consideration of model responses and two-dimensional inversion of synthetic data, sensitivity of the data components in detecting different geophysical structure...

Accelerated Method for the Reduced-Parameter Modeling of Head-Related Transfer Functions for Customizable Spatial Audio

Many spatial audio (“3D sound”) systems are based on the use of Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs). Since the measurement of these HRTFs for each prospective listener is impractical in many applications, developers frequently use “generic” HRTFs (e.g., from a mannequin), sacrificing the superior spatialization that could be provided by “individual” HRTFs. This paper presents an improved me...

Improved Method for Individualization of Head-Related Transfer Functions on Horizontal Plane Using Reduced Number of Anthropometric Measurements

An important problem to be solved in modeling head-related impulse responses (HRIRs) is how to individualize HRIRs so that they are suitable for a listener. We modeled the entire magnitude head-related transfer functions (HRTFs), in frequency domain, for sound sources on horizontal plane of 37 subjects using principal components analysis (PCA). The individual magnitude HRTFs could be modeled ad...

A Domain Knowledge-Assisted Nonlinear Model for Head-Related Transfer Functions Based on Bottleneck Deep Neural Network

Many methods have been proposed for modeling head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) and yield a good performance level in terms of log-spectral distortion (LSD). However, most of them utilize linear weighting to reconstruct or interpolate HRTFs, but not consider the inherent nonlinearity relationship between the basis function and HRTFs. Motivated by this, a domain knowledge-assisted nonlinear...
